2012 Granny-Square-A-Day - Day 8

I have caught up on the days and now have 8 squares.  Of course, the 1st one is a stand-alone so far, but here are the rest of them:

Using the flat-braid joining method, I've started joining the blocks together.  I'm not sure I'm going to stick with the red join around the red-centered square.  I think I'm going to try the plain white and see what that looks like too.  Opinions are appreciated.
